SALEM – The Odd Cat Sanctuary is a charity organization with a goal to rescue and care for all cats, regardless of their issues or outward appearances. It is situated in Salem.

They are extending a second chance at life to unwanted and “strange” cats.

Founder Tara Kawczynski told WBZ-TV that the organization’s goal is to “give these little creatures an opportunity to be highlighted and show them that just because they have a disability, they are still unique and deserve love and a regular life just like any other cat.”

They concentrate on sick, elderly, feral, and cats that would ordinarily be euthanized at other shelters, or what they refer to as the “strange cat.”

According to Kawczynski, “I simply felt like there wasn’t a lot of area shelters that promoted cats that had problems, missing legs, or missing eyes, they always had the cute fluffy kitten that they were marketing.”

They are a foster-based organization and feel that this is the best way to care for cats with special needs.

We intervene because it’s more difficult to adopt out and save animals who are damaged or ill from the shelter “Kristy Lee, a foster volunteer, according to WBZ.Although slightly different, this cat nonetheless deserves the same amount of love.
